In August, China's log import volume was 2.6842 million cubic meters, a year-on-year decrease of 26%; the import value dropped by 3.34 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 33.1%.
Imported sawn timber also became the first negative growth after the Spring Festival holiday this year, falling by 9.7%. The import volume was 2.16 million cubic meters, and the import value fell by 21.1% to 3.69 billion yuan.
Judging from the average price of sawn timber, the average import price in August rose to 1,710 yuan/cubic meter. In July, the average import price was 1,161 yuan/cubic meter, the lowest average price this year. The average price in August increased by 47.3% compared with July.
