The Russian Association of Furniture and Wood Processing Enterprises stated that similar to IKEA's concept, buyers can buy favorite modules and assemble them by themselves. The Russian company Askona has also started producing products similar to the IKEA range. "Mattresses, sofas, and beds are in the lower-mid price segment," the company said.
Since 2000, IKEA has opened 26 stores in 13 regions of Russia. In March of this year, the company announced the suspension of all sales in Russia. In June, IKEA cut Russian employees and sold local factories, and said it would continue to stop the import and export of products to Russia. The office will be permanently closed.
