According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the US Department of Agriculture recently issued the "Final Act on the Quarantine Requirements for the Export of Chinese Wooden Crafts to the United States", which will be implemented on April 30, 2012. This marked the resumption of exports to the United States of my country’s related wooden crafts that had been suspended for 7 years.
In April 2005, the United States suspended imports of related wooden handicrafts from my country due to the detection of a forest pest, Cedar beetle, in the Christmas tree I exported to the United States. In order to restore exports to the United States, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine carried out the following tasks: First, it investigated the causes of the problems with relevant companies and formulated improvement measures; Second, it invited and received American experts to inspect related arts and crafts production in China; Third, it provided related technologies Information and management measures so that the US side can complete the risk analysis report of wooden handicrafts exported to the United States; Fourth, conduct quarantine technical talks with the US side on relevant management measures.
Through years of hard work, the US has issued the "Final Act on the Quarantine Requirements for the Export of Chinese Wooden Crafts to the US." The Act covers commodities including products made of wood, branches, rattan, bamboo poles and fences with a diameter greater than 1 cm. The main regulations are: first, wooden crafts must be quarantined before export, including fumigation or heat treatment; second, production The enterprise and its treatment facilities must be evaluated by the inspection and quarantine agency and approved by the US; the third is that the production enterprise should establish a traceability system.
At present, the direct entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies are directing wood product exporting enterprises to establish inspection and quarantine treatment facilities for export products, and will strengthen inspection and quarantine supervision to ensure the smooth export of products to the United States.
