Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that on March 23, 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the sixth extension of the time for releasing the final conclusion of the tax evasion investigation. For plywood from Vietnam, if its core material uses peeled board produced in Vietnam or other countries, it will not be subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duties.
Also according to the Trade Remedy Administration, the provisional rate could be as high as 378.26% for goods imported into the U.S. beginning June 17, 2020.
However, the Ministry of Commerce allows Vietnamese companies that cooperate with the investigation to prove that they do not use Chinese materials, so as not to be restricted by the measures.
According to estimates, the number of companies participating in self-certification accounted for about 80% of Vietnam's exports during the survey period.
