Many people first pay attention to the environmental protection of the board when choosing a board, and generally we look at whether the board is environmentally friendly, mainly focusing on the formaldehyde content of the board.

I believe that when you buy plates, you will hear the shopping guide say, E1, E0... But most people don't know what this means. In fact, if you want to find out the formaldehyde content of the plate, you only need to Remember two points:

Part.01

source of formaldehyde

A small part comes from the wood itself, and most comes from the glue that glues the boards together. Man-made boards are the most well-known source of formaldehyde release, mainly plywood, fine wood, medium density fiberboard and particleboard and other man-made boards. Formaldehyde-free does not form glue. These types of boards need to use adhesives, and the adhesives are aldehyde-containing resins with formaldehyde as the main component, mainly urea-formaldehyde resins. Urea-formaldehyde resin is widely used because of its low price and good bonding performance.

Part.02

The highest standard for judging the environmental protection of panels

Previously proposed by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and drafted by Nanning Ketian Water Technology Co., Ltd., the national standard GB/T 39600-2021 "Classification of Formaldehyde Emission from Wood-based Panels and Their Products" was officially released on March 9, 2021. , which will be implemented from October 1, 2021.

The standard further refines the classification of formaldehyde emission from wood-based panels, and is divided into E1 level, E0 level and ENF level. Since then, "E0-level wood-based panels" finally have a unified official (national standard) identity, and the debut of "ENF-level" also gives "formaldehyde-free panels" a certain basis (NF: No Formaldehyde abbreviation, no formaldehyde).

{Focus on stability}

In addition to paying attention to environmental protection, stability is also very important, which directly determines the service life and even safety of the board. To judge whether the selected board is stable, you can look at two points:

Part.01

Nail grip

In custom furniture, a large number of hardware parts, such as screws, hinges, etc., are used. Whether these hardware parts can be firmly combined with the board reflects the nail-holding force of the board.

In layman's terms, it is whether it is easy to fix the nail hole after the nail enters the board, and whether it is easy to loosen and fall off.

Plates with good nail-holding strength have a relatively strong fixing force for nails, and the nails are not easy to fall off after long-term use, and can bear more weight. The nail holes of the nails can also be used repeatedly.

Plates with poor nail-holding strength will easily loosen the nails after a long time, and the furniture may deform, shake, make abnormal noises, or even fall apart, which not only affects the service life of the furniture, but also threatens the safety of family members. For ordinary consumers, the easiest and most intuitive way to know the strength of the nail holding force of the plate is to directly view the quality inspection report.

Part.02

Static bending strength

Static bending strength refers to the compressive strength that the plate can withstand when it is bent to break. Simply put, it is "how much force can break the plate".

If the static bending strength index is low, the plate is prone to deformation and cracking after being stressed, the probability of damage and fracture during use will be high, the service life will be short and the safety hazard will be great. Static bending strength is related to raw materials, tree age, processing technology, etc. If you want the board to be durable, you can ask the age of the tree when choosing a board. Generally, wood that is 15-30 years old will be better.

However, in addition to the board itself, the style design of the custom furniture also affects the static bending strength. If the span of the laminate of the cabinet is made particularly large, no matter what the board is, it may become bent.

{Focus on moisture resistance}

Moisture resistance refers to the "water expansion rate" of the board, and the degree of expansion of the board in contact with water determines whether the board is easy to deform to a certain extent.

The test standard for the water absorption expansion rate of artificial boards is 2h, which is to cut a section of the board and soak it in water for two hours to see if it is deformed.

For the board, moisture-proof is only to ensure that the furniture in the kitchen, bathroom and other places with relatively high air moisture content will not affect the force balance of the countertop and the hinge nail holding force due to swelling and deformation. This is not only related to the water absorption expansion rate of the board, but also related to the edge sealing process after the board is cut.

To sum up, stability and moisture resistance determine the physical properties of the board, while environmental protection determines the safety of our use. If urea-formaldehyde glue is used in the production process of the board, it is likely to cause the formaldehyde to exceed the standard, thus threatening us of physical health.

Relying on the mature application of water-based polymer technology and formaldehyde-free glue and formaldehyde-free board technology, Water-based Ketian has successfully created core products such as formaldehyde-free ecological board, formaldehyde-free particle board, high-polymer KT board and non-toxic custom board, and realized a full range of artificial boards. Formaldehyde-free, non-toxic, industrialized production and application, has become a domestic high-quality supplier of aldehyde-free panels, aldehyde-free floors, non-toxic home improvement materials/furniture materials, and can provide comprehensive, efficient and non-toxic strong support for the whole house customization, giving Provide consumers with a non-toxic, odorless, ready-to-live home environment.
