1. Building materials
Poplar is widely used in the construction of houses in the northern and central country and is used as beams, poplar wood frames, poplar purlins, poplar rafters, and ceilings. Poplar boards are also suitable for interior decoration and as building templates.

2. Pulp and paper making
Poplar is white, has less resin, and is easy to bleach. It is an excellent raw material for wood pulp making with both yield, bleaching, and strength. It can be used to make groundwood and chemical pulp. Poplar is suitable for making paper with uniform paper quality and high strength. In my country, poplar and softwood pulp are usually mixed for papermaking to produce high-strength industrial paper.
3. Medium Density Fiberboard
The small diameter wood, tip, branches, and processed scraps of poplar can be used to make poplar MDF, poplar particleboard, poplar blockboard, etc. MDF is made of wood fiber or other plant fiber as raw material, which is crushed and crushed. , Fiber separation, drying, and applying urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives, and then a man-made board made by hot pressing. The density of medium density fiberboard is 0.5~0.88g/cm3 (the one below 0.5 is generally called fiberboard, and the one above 0.88 is called the high-density board). The mechanical properties are close to that of wood, and it is a kind of wood-based panel that is relatively popular in the world. The output of medium-density fiberboard has developed rapidly in recent years. Particleboard is a wood-based panel made by cutting wood processing residues, small-diameter wood, sawdust, etc. into fragments of a certain size. Blockboard is a piece of solid wood that is pieced together with adhesive, and then a layer of leather is attached to the surface, or simply polished smooth.
4. Plywood
The production of poplar plywood uses logs of large diameter, straight, and few knots. Poplar performs well in peeling, gluing, and painting. Poplar has high water content, the logs do not need to be pre-cooked, and it is easy to peel. After the poplar plywood is made, the surface is flat, the warpage is qualified, and all the properties can meet international standards.
5. Manufacture of modified wood
Poplar also has shortcomings, such as low mechanical strength, easy discoloration, and decay, and poor durability. Poplar has been modified to improve mechanical strength:
1. Poplar compressed wood. Poplar has been compressed and compacted, which has greatly transformed the properties of poplar, and can be used for wooden shuttles, gun stocks, etc.
2. Poplar wood-plastic composite wood. The vinyl monomer is injected into poplar, polymerized by radiation irradiation, or added with an initiator, and the monomer is polymerized in wood to form a composite material through heating and catalysis. Its characteristics are increased density, good dimensional stability, increased strength, and high resistance to The grinding force is improved, and it can be used for floors, sleepers, building doors, windows, cabinets, and advanced musical instruments.
