Free water, as the name suggests, refers to the water that naturally exists in the wood cells and gaps, and is also called capillary water in academics; absorbed water is the water that exists between the cell walls, also known as attached water, absorbed water or bound water; Free water and sorbed water are the most important moisture in wood. Chemical water is different from the first two in that it refers to the moisture in the chemical composition of the wood itself.
In the relationship between drying, burning and even infiltration and density of wood, free water is closely related to it, just like the three brothers with a clear division of labor, absorbing water is in charge of the change of wood properties, while chemical water has nothing to do with wood properties or its own form. It doesn't matter, it's just the moisture produced by the chemical reaction of the wood itself.
The moisture content of wood is usually used to describe the change of moisture in wood, so in the national standard, the moisture content has its own fluctuation interval. Simple cutting, the moisture content of wood is only the ratio of the moisture in the wood to its own weight, but if it is subdivided, there are fiber saturation point (moisture content), raw wood moisture content, wet wood moisture content, equilibrium moisture content, kiln-dried moisture content rate, absolute dry wood moisture content, etc. Among them, fiber saturation point, raw wood moisture content and equilibrium moisture content are more important for the fuel wood used in wood-burning fireplaces.
