Affected by high temperature and rainy weather, China's Forestry Purchasing Managers' Index fell by 1.6 month-on-month in July
On July 31, the new National Forestry Purchasing Managers Index (FPMI) was released. In July, China's forestry purchasing managers index was 44.66, down 1.6 from the previous month. Affected by high temperature and rainy weather, this is the fourth consecutive month that the index has been below the line of prosperity and decline.
In the same month, the National Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) released by the China Logistics Association was 49.3, an increase of 0.3 from the previous month; the Caixin China PMI index was 49.2, a decrease of 1.3 from the previous month.
Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is a world-recognized indicator of industry development status. When the index exceeds 50, it means that the industry is in a state of development, equal to 50, the industry is stagnant, and less than 50, the industry is in recession.
The survey shows that in July, the national forestry purchasing manager index continued to run at a low level. Except for the wooden door and window industry index, the other individual indexes were all below the 50 line of prosperity and decline. The wooden doors and windows industry index is 53.79, an increase of 1.21 from the previous month, and the industry is in a state of development. The industry indexes of wooden flooring, wooden furniture, blockboard, and bamboo products were 44.13, 47.16, 46.92, and 36.59, respectively, up 0.54, 0.30, 0.96, and 0.27 from the previous month. Plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, finger-jointed board, and papermaking industry indexes were 40.62, 41.56, 38.75, 41.91, and 43.33, down 6.90, 4.33, 4.25, 2.65, and 5.84 from the previous month.
The survey was jointly conducted by the Development Research Center (Legal Affairs Center) of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the China Forestry Industry Federation. A total of 596 enterprises across the country filled out the questionnaire.
