According to reports, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and northern Congo are currently experiencing a rainy season, while southern Congo, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea are entering a drought period, which is expected to continue until September under normal circumstances.
This drought period provides opportunities for road maintenance, especially in central Gabon, where red soil roads face challenges. In order to address previous transportation delays, investment is being made in railway maintenance to ensure smoother operations and minimize interference.
Recently, the Minister of Forestry of the Central African Republic and forestry officials visited Gabon to study the organization of due diligence and certification processes in the Gabonese forestry sector.
The focus of this study is on controlling logging and timber transportation from sawmills to ports. It is reported that seven timber companies, including Wagner Group, have requested Gabon's forestry authorities to provide assistance in the certification and organization of forest management to support sustainable forest management.
