According to the Egyptian Furniture Export Council, exports of the furniture industry in the first nine months of 2021 increased by 13% to 184 million U.S. dollars compared with 163 million U.S. dollars in the same period in 2020.
The monthly report released by the committee shows that the industry’s exports in September fell by about 32% to $18.5 million, compared with $27.146 million in September 2020.
Saudi Arabia ranked first among the countries that imported Egyptian furniture in the first nine months of 2021. Its imports fell by 6.1% to approximately 46 million U.S. dollars, compared with 49 million U.S. dollars in the same period in 2020.
The UAE ranks second, with imports increasing by approximately 9.5% from 21 million U.S. dollars last year to 23 million U.S. dollars.
According to the report, in the first nine months of this year, furniture exports from Egypt to Iraq increased by 5.5% to approximately US$19 million, compared with US$18 million in the same period last year.
