Timber companies that have suspended production for a long time due to the epidemic are returning to normal. Vietnam is expected to achieve exports of 14.5 billion U.S. dollars this year, which will make Vietnam once again the country that exports the most American furniture after last year.

In the first half of this year, China exported nearly 4.6 billion U.S. dollars worth of furniture. Although Vietnam has continuously surpassed China in furniture exports to the United States since 2020, the gap between the two is still very small.

Due to the outbreak of the epidemic in the second half of the year, the Vietnam factory has been closed since late July. Stricter epidemic prevention and control measures have caused many supply and labor issues, and these problems continue. As a result, several furniture manufacturers have chosen to bring some orders back to China from Vietnam, including LoveSac and Hooker Furniture.

Malaysia and Indonesia's furniture exports to the United States increased again, exporting 873 million US dollars and 604 million US dollars respectively. Thailand increased by 97% to US$219 million, and Poland increased by 80% to US$181 million. Italy exported more than 554 million U.S. dollars of furniture to the United States, an increase of 72% over 2020.

The most significant growth is Mexico, which exported a total of US$836 million worth of furniture to the United States in the first half of 2021, an increase of 68% over 2020.

Canada's furniture exports to the United States have dropped from the third place in 2020 to the sixth place this year. The export value in the first half of this year reached 642 million US dollars. Compared with 2020, although it has maintained growth, it has only increased by 18%, which is significantly lower than all other countries on the list.

From January to June 2021, US furniture imports totaled more than 15 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 55% over the same period in 2020.
