In September, a total of 4.6 million cubic meters of logs for industrial use were harvested in Finland. Compared with September last year, the removal volume decreased by one fifth, or 1.3 million cubic meters. From January to September, a total of 42.7 million cubic meters of industrial wood was harvested. This removal is down 7% from the previous year and the five-year average, according to the Natural Resources Institute of Finland (Luke).
Of the industrial roundwood removals, sawnwood accounted for 2.2 million cubic meters and pulpwood accounted for 2.4 million cubic meters.
Industrial log harvest from non-industrial private forests was 3.5 million cubic meters, down 26% from the previous year.
The forest and state-owned forest timber harvested by forest industry enterprises was 1.1 million cubic meters, a decrease of 4% from the previous year.
Energy wood harvesting totaled 496,000 cubic meters, with stems and whole trees harvested accounting for 42% of this volume.
