In May 2023, Finland harvested a total of 3.4 million cubic meters of logs for industrial purposes. From January to May, 26.5 million cubic meters of logs were harvested for use in the forestry industry. According to data from the Finnish Institute of Natural Resources (Luke), this clearance increased by 1% compared to the previous year and decreased by 3% compared to the five-year average.
In the amount of industrial round wood cleared, sawn wood accounts for 1.6 million cubic meters, and pulp wood accounts for 1.8 million cubic meters.
The amount of industrial log logging in non industrial private forests was 2.5 million cubic meters, a decrease of 10% compared to the previous year.
The forest and state-owned timber harvesting volume of the forest industry company is 1 million cubic meters, an increase of 25% compared to the previous year.
The total amount of energy wood felling is 480000 cubic meters, of which 43% is stem and whole tree felling.
