At the end of August, the Russian Forest Management Agency organized a rating campaign for timber companies in Russia, based on the amount of timber cut and the size of the leased forest area in Russia.
Through this rating, the five largest domestic timber companies in Russia are further identified as "Ilim", "Segezha", "Titan", "ULK" and "Mondi".
According to statistics, Russia harvested 216.8 million cubic meters of timber last year.
The five largest companies together mine only 13.2% of all timber and do not corner the market.
However, they have the advantage of access to the boreal forest, i.e. trees growing inaccessible locations are the most valuable in terms of commodity and quality characteristics from a logistical point of view.
