Wiradadi Soeprayogo, general chairman of the Indonesian Sawlog and Processed Timber Entrepreneurs Association (ISWA), claimed that the global economy is experiencing turbulence and uncertainty, which has caused Indonesia's sawn timber and processed timber exports to be affected, and the European and American export markets have declined.
He disclosed that in 2022, the total export value of sawn timber and processed wood products reached US$2.4 billion. However, from the beginning of 2023 to the present, this figure has dropped by 13%.
He also said that the market for Indonesian sawn timber and processed timber is very promising in China and other Asia-Pacific countries, and Indonesia is preparing to increase its market presence in Asian countries.
