On January 17, the National Bureau of Statistics released the total retail sales of consumer goods in December 2023. Data show that in December 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 4.355 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. For the whole year of 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 47,149.5 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year.
In terms of home building materials, the total retail sales of furniture in December was 16.5 billion yuan, an increase of 0.6% month-on-month (16.4 billion yuan in November) and a year-on-year increase of 2.3%; the total retail sales in 2023 will be 151.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%. In December, the total retail sales of construction and decoration materials was 17 billion yuan, an increase of 10.39% month-on-month (15.4 billion yuan in November) and a year-on-year decrease of 7.5%; the total retail sales for 2023 will be 156.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%.
