Russia's timber giant saw sales of softwood grow 167%
Russia's Segezha Group, a large timber company, has been stable for more than 2022.
As a result of the acquisition, its softwood sawn timber sales increased 167% year on year to 667,000 m³ in the third quarter.
In the first quarter, the growth rate reached 174%, but in the second quarter, due to the impact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the growth rate decreased from the first quarter, and the year-on-year growth was only 94%.
Russia has extended protective export duties on rough-processed softwood wood with a water content of more than 22 percent for three years until December 31, 2025.
The relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and has been issued.
The higher duty rate applies to the export of certain types of wood: materials with moisture content of more than 22% and thickness and width of 10cm.
As a result, the Deputy Prime Minister's office reminded that the export duty is 200 euros per cubic meter for softwood, 250 euros for beech, 300 euros for ash and 370 euros for oak.
Softwood lumber has an export duty of 10 percent but not less than 13 euros per cubic meter, while oak lumber has a duty of 10 percent but not less than 15 euros, and beech and fraiche wood has a duty of 10 percent but not less than 50 euros.
