Since July 10, 2022, due to the EU's sanctions strategy against Russia, the Russian timber export market has undergone major changes. Its timber exports to EU countries have stagnated, and its export focus has shifted to countries in Asia and the Middle East. Today, Russia's timber exports have changed for a year. With the adjustment of export focus, Russia's timber exports to China are still growing.
According to data from the Russian statistical agency Whatwood, in July, Russia’s timber exports to China continued to rise, reaching 1.2 million cubic meters, a month-on-month increase of 6.2%.
Among them, Russia's Krasnoyarsk region saw the largest export increase. Compared with the timber export data to China in June this year, it increased by 30% month-on-month to 330,000 cubic meters. This is also the largest monthly growth rate in the region since October 2022. Exports of wood suppliers in the Krasnoyarsk region have also increased significantly.
In other regions of Novoyeniseisky LHK, such as the Arkhangelsk region, regional timber exports to China increased by 29% month-on-month. The export of timber companies in the region has also increased significantly, and the export volume of its large timber company ULK to China has increased by 68% month-on-month.
