The Russian president has decided to subsidize the industry with 500 million rubles (about 46 million yuan) in 2023 and is trying to boost timber exports by rail and sea.
The decision to increase the timber transport subsidy was taken at the aforementioned meeting.
The Kremlin already subsidizes the industry with 300 million rubles a year, which will now reach 500 million rubles.
The purpose of the logistics subsidy is to facilitate the rail transport of timber, especially in the northwestern regions of Russia.
With enhanced rail logistics, it will be easier for timber products to reach ports in the region, which Russia hopes to use to boost product exports.
