Recently, according to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, in the first two months of this year, Vietnam's exports of wood and wooden furniture to Canada surged 47.4% year-on-year to US$36 million.
In January, most of Vietnam's wooden products exported to the Canadian market were wooden furniture, with an export value of US$22.3 million, accounting for 86.2% of the total exports of wood products to Canada. Export volume figures in January increased by 15.2% month-on-month and 176% year-on-year.
China, the United States, Vietnam and the European Union are the four major suppliers of wooden furniture to the Canadian market, with imports accounting for 85.9% of the total. It is worth noting that exports of wood furniture to Canada from China and Vietnam have increased, while exports of wood furniture from the United States and the European Union have decreased.
Industry insiders in Vietnam pointed out that Vietnam still has a lot of room to increase exports of wooden furniture to the Canadian market, because the import volume of Vietnamese furniture in the Canadian market is still very low.
