Preliminary statistics from the Guangxi forestry department show that in 2021, the wood and bamboo processing in the region will achieve an output value of 310 billion yuan, becoming the biggest pillar of Guangxi's forestry economy. Among them, Guangxi's wood-based panel output reached 51 million cubic meters, making it the largest wood-based panel production base in the country.
At the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the "strong board area" emerged, effectively connecting with the "timber strong area", and building a solid and strong upstream and midstream industrial chain for the "trillion-yuan forestry". At present, the plywood, fiberboard, and particleboard industry in Guangxi have considerable production capacity. These three types of wood-based panels have a complete lineup of products of various specifications and grades. "Three leftovers" can all be digested and utilized.
Taking advantage of the geographical advantage of bordering Vietnam, Pingxiang and Dongxing have developed into the largest production and sales centers of mahogany furniture in the country. Since the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", in addition to these two mainland ports, Guangxi has also made full use of the Beibu Gulf International Gateway Port, the Xijiang Inland River Port, and the China-Europe Railway Express, etc., to actively develop links with the Americas, Africa, Oceania, and Southeast Asia and other timber export markets. Expand high-quality timber import trade channels, increase the type and quantity of high-quality timber imports, and establish an imported timber processing industry belt along the coast of Guangxi. In 2021, the whole region is expected to use more than 3 million cubic meters of wood outside the overseas region.
High-end green home furnishing is one of the nine major industrial clusters built during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in Guangxi. The forestry department has taken the initiative to build a chain, extend the chain, supplement the chain and strengthen the chain, coordinate key tasks such as raw material supply, board processing, furniture manufacturing, and park construction, and solidly promote the integrated development of wood processing "forest and board homes". In 2021, the output of furniture and home furnishing in the region is expected to exceed 25 million units, a year-on-year increase of 23.7%; the output of wood flooring is expected to exceed 13.6 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%. Effectively connect wood-based panel processing and high-quality timber imports, actively undertake industrial transfer in the eastern region, and the high-end green home furnishing industry in Guangxi is booming.
